Natural, DIY Recipes for Happy Hair
1 tablespoon bentonite clay
1 tablespoon purified water (infuse your water with dried organic rose petals and add 1 tablespoon of aloe vera juice or green tea-depending on which one your hair prefers)
2 tablespoons organic honey
1 to 2 tablespoons olive oil (or your favorite hair oil)
Stir by hand to reach the desired consistency you like. I love a soft, easy to apply mix because the means it will be easy to wash out.
Sidenote: My hair loves moisture so I pack a lot of extra moisture in this mix. Too much bentonite clay without oils can make my hair dry and Lavish does not like to be dry! You can always make yours with less oils. One of my original recipes was made with equal parts clay and apple cider vinegar or purified water (1/4 cup of each). This is a great mix to use after you’ve worn braids or twists for a few weeks (or months) and want to deeply clean your hair.
Don’t feel like mixing? There are some great clay washes and deep conditioning clay goodies out there. Terressentials is one of my favorites for clay wash. Check out my Terra-monial here!
