Erica’s Shiny Clay Wash

June 6, 2012 by Erica King

1 tablespoon bentonite clay

1/2 cup  aloe vera juice (or apple cider vinegar)

2 tablespoons marshmallow root powder (I buy mine from here)

2 tablespoons organic honey

1 to 2 tablespoons safflower oil (or your favorite hair oil)

Instructions

Stir by hand to reach the desired consistency you like.  I love a soft, easy to apply mix because the means it will be easy to wash out.

Sidenote:  My hair loves moisture so I pack a lot of extra moisture in this mix.  Too much bentonite clay without oils can make my hair dry, and Lavish does not like to be dry!  You can always make yours with less oils.  One of my original recipes was made with equal parts clay and apple cider vinegar or purified water (1/4 cup of each).

This is also a great mix to use after you’ve worn braids or twists for a few weeks (or months) and want to deeply cleanse your hair and scalp.
