I’m getting the ball rolling with my favorite green juice for hair growth and clear skin.  Watch me make “Kale to the Queen” here.  If this is your first time making a veggie-based juice, don’t fret.  There are plenty of apples and oranges for a deliciously sweet veggie treat that won’t send you crashing in an hour!

Ingredients:

5 kale leaves (or a big handful)

3 apples

4 carrots

3 oranges

**Any juicer will work.

Feeling bloated?  Add 1 cucumber to this juice.  Cucumber works as a natural diuretic, and adds refreshment and rejuvenation to any drink.  Go ahead and cut two to place on over your eyes during meditation or a deep delicious soak in the bath…

I know it’s been a while – it has been KARAZY here in LavishLand. Thank goodness for castor oil! Lavish started Kinky Curly Coily Me’s Spring Castor Oil Challenge last month and it has been nothing short of amazing!  Goddess Jenell Stewart runs this hair lovin’ challenge for fabulous healthy hair and growth.  She is such a daily inspiration with her videos, posts, and good energy (her Instagram is the bomb – throwback slang)!

It’s been 6 weeks so far (it ends in June) and I’ve already noticed more length, thickness, fullness and shine.  My goal was to grow my hair thicker and fuller all over with more length at the crown.  My new hair goal is “hair down to my butt” (is there a natural hair acronym for that…H2B maybe:)  I have a new “go to” hairstyle and simpler hair care regime just from being in the challenge.  How cool is that! I’m editing a video about this now – coming soon to your inbox!

I never knew so much could happen from consistent castor oil use.  At this rate, I’ll reach my goal by June…H2B that is:)  If you’re interested in being in a wonderful supportive group of women AND growing your hair, join the next challenge.  Registration begins in May.  I’ll see you there!

Creating Affirmations for Daily Activities

One of the many gifts from the “You Can Trust Your Life DVD” were to how to use and write affirmations that empower. How you live your day is up to you. Louise smiled and said, “It’s up to us to make it a lovely time!” Have affirmations for everything from running errands, that meeting with your boss, picking the kids up from school, taking a shower, or even getting out of bed! Louise & Cheryl also emphasized the importance of creating affirmations for those activites you dread. Bring intention and attention to your day.

Examples:

I am showered with exceptional thoughts all day (repeat in the shower)

I work in creative collaboration with fun, inspiring people on projects that heal the world (repeat while working)

I send waves of love to the people around me. I feel the love they send back. (repeat anytime)

There are also some wonderful surprises in these DVDs. Louise personally teaches you how to use the mirror to honor yourself and your power. Cheryl teaches the tapping method with such simplicity – you’ll master it by the time the DVD is over. I tapped away anxiety around a public speaking engagement. It worked! Needless to say, I’m a tapping enthusiast!

Ok so I was on Pinterest scoping hair-inspiration and vegan food porn when I stumbled across something amazing.  But first,

HAIR INSPIRATION & GORGEOUSNESS!

Lavish has inspired me to be holistically “vegan.”  I’m “transiting” from meat-focused meals to plant-based empowerment (thanks @krisscarr)!

Since today is my 4th Official Naptural Anniversary (We’re in this Love Together Lavish:) I’m sharing one of the most shine producing, deep conditioning recipes, my curly kiddies can make on their own!

And, as an Anniversary gift to Lavish, I’ve decided to be vegan in more ways than just my hair products!  This means more vegan hair food and recipes for you!

In order to hold myself accountable and stick with it, I’m starting “The Juicing Project.”  I’m committing to juicing for myself once a day for the next 30 days.

Let’s get healthy together!

Vegan Hair Mayo Deep Conditioner

1/2 cup grapeseed or coconut oil (grapeseed oil will turn the mayo a pretty light goddess green)

1/2 cup coconut milk

1 tbsp lemon juice (or apple cider vinegar)

1 tbsp honey

Mix the oil, milk and honey together in a blender until smooth.  Slowly add the lemon juice until the mix thickens.  For a non-vegan version of this, add 1 to 2 eggs (depending on WYHL – What Your Hair Likes:) and reduce the coconut milk to 1/4 cup.

If eating this version, add sea salt to taste.

3 1/2 oz purified or distilled Water

1 pinch of panthenol dl

1 tablespoon vegetable glycerin

1/4 tsp  nettle

1/4 tsp calendula extract

6 to 8 drops lemon essential oil

4 oz spritz bottle

This spritz feels like it has oil in it but it’s completely oil free.  Add water and panthenol dl and gently shake the bottle.  Next, add glycerin and nettle, and calendula extract.  Shake, shake, shake your curls (and the bottle:)

I love the lemon scent of this spritz but you can decrease/increase drops depending on your nose.  I love adding rose essential oil for this mix as well.  Roses add extra conditioning power and is a natural mood lifter.  Play around with your favorite essential oils to make this spritz even more delicious!

Calendula Extract

The calendula extract gives your hair a soft and silky feeling.  I LOVE it and add it to almost everything!  It controls frizz, is a natural antiseptic, antifungal, antibacterial skin soother (try saying that 5 times fast:).  I order mine from the Herbarie but it’s easy to find online.  Just Google “where to buy calendula extract”

**To make this spritz even more moisturizing, fill the bottle to the top (or top off with) aloe vera juice or flaxseed water.
